SWS: 26% of Filipino Muslims pray Salah 5 times a day

MANILA, Philippines — The Social Weather Stations (SWS) said Wednesday that 26 percent or around one in four Filipino Muslims pray the Salah five times a day.
The Salah is a Muslim prayer and is one of the five pillars of Islam.
According to the SWS, the latest survey result shows a noticeable decrease from their 2021 poll on the same topic which found that 53 percent of Muslims back then prayed the Salah five times a day.

“26 [percent] of Muslims pray the Salah [five] times daily. 32 [percent] few times daily, 38 [percent] sometimes, 3 [percent] only during Ramadan, and 2 [percent] more than a year ago,” the survey posted on the SWS website states.
In terms of attendance of religious services, the SWS poll found that 72 percent of Muslims attended at least once a week while 9 percent attended two or more times a month.
Others attended once a month (6 percent), two to 11 times a year (1 percent), and once a year (7 percent). Three percent said they never attend the service.
The survey also found that a vast majority of Muslims physically attend religious services, with 96 percent of them going to their place of worship within the past three months while 3 percent did not attend any religious services.
The SWS survey, conducted from December 10-14, 2022, involved 1,200 Muslim adults aged 18 years old and above from across the country.
For 2023, the Holy Month of Ramadan will begin on March 23 in the Philippines. This marks the beginning of a 30-day fast where Muslims will spend more time in prayers than eating or drinking water.
