Sunken oil tanker that caused oil spill found off Oriental Mindoro
MANILA, Philippines — The sunken oil tanker that caused a massive oil spill has now been found off Oriental Mindoro, the province’s Governor Humerlito Dolor said on Tuesday.
“Sa wakas, natagpuan na ang MT Princess Empress! (At last, the MT Princess Empress has been found),” Dolor said in a Facebook post.
Dolor added that the vessel was found by a remote-operating vehicle of a Japanese vessel.
An oil spill occurred when the vessel carrying 800,000 liters of industrial fuel oil sank on February 28 off the coast of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, as a result of engine trouble caused by rough sea conditions.
