MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies on Tuesday are expected to bring hot and humid weather in Luzon and overcast skies with chances of thunderstorms in Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said.

(At present, easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean prevail in the eastern part of our country, bringing hot and dry weather in the afternoon. While there is a low chance of rains, we have a possibility of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in parts of Mindanao.)

Pagasa did not also raise a gale warning in any seaboards nationwide.

Castañeda, meanwhile, said the northeast monsoon or amihan will stop prevailing in the country anytime this week, marking the start of the hot season.

“Nakikita natin anumang araw man ngayong linggo ay magdedeklara na tayo ng pagtatapos ng amihan season kung saan ito na din ang hudyat ng simula ng panahon ng tag-init,” she said.

(We see that anytime this week, we would declare the end of amihan season, marking the beginning of the hot season.)
