MMDA extends motorcycle lanes dry run for another week
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced the week-long extension of the dry run for the exclusive motorcycle lane along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
The formal implementation of the designated lane exclusive for motorcycles was set to begin on March 20, but in a statement on Friday, the MMDA said the dry run would be extended to give way to the road patch works being done by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the area.
The extension will also allot more time for motorists to familiarize themselves with the policy, it added.

MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes said the DPWH would continue its patching work along Commonwealth Avenue, from Elliptical Road to Doña Carmen, which began a week ago to address motorists’ concerns about the road’s uneven portions and potholes.
This, he noted, “would help in lessening accidents” along Commonwealth Avenue.
“With another week of dry run, we hope to inform more motorists to avoid confusion before full implementation,” Artes also said.
Aside from the road patch works, MMDA said it also plans to install reflectors and solar street lamps to further curb accidents in the area.
According to the agency, a total of 2,173 motorcycle and 7,584 four-wheel private vehicle drivers were apprehended from March 9 to March 16. — With reports from Mae Anne Bilolo, INQUIRER.net trainee
