Boy, 3, dead in Quezon town fire

All sea travels in Quezon province were suspended on Monday (Feb. 27) due to a gale warning over the eastern seaboards of Luzon brought by the strong northeast monsoon locally known as "amihan."

LUCENA CITY – A three-year-old boy died on Tuesday (March 14) in a fire that gutted his house in Infanta town, Quezon province.

The Quezon police, in a report Wednesday (March 15), said that the blaze struck the house of Arlene Jumantoc, 49, in Barangay (village) Tudturan at 2:26 a.m.

One of the house occupants, Renzo Ace Ruanto, who was sleeping, was left inside one of the rooms during the commotion and was later found dead from the fire.

Jumantoc sustained injuries while the four other house occupants were left unharmed. It was not specified how Ruanto was related to the residents of the house.

According to investigations, a lit a candle was left unattended, causing the fire.

No other houses were affected by the fire.
