FIERY WINGMAN Ronald Tubid proved his worth to the Barako Bull Energy Boosters as he played an incredible game on both ends of the floor to help his team defeat the Alaska Aces, 2-1, in the quarterfinals and advance to the semifinal round of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
For his performance, the former standout of the University of the East was awarded the Player of the Week award for the period of April 2 to 8.
In the deciding Game 3 win, Tubid scored 20 points and added five rebounds, four assists and a steal to his name in helping Barako Bull win, 106-85. In addition, he also limited the Aces’ stars LA Tenorio and Cyrus Baguio to sub-par numbers.
Counting his 15 points and six boards in a 92-99 loss in Game 2, Tubid averaged 17.5 points, anchored on an astounding 8-for-15 three-point shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.5 steals against a lone turnover. Tubid also scored a game-high 24 points in a 103-90 win in the series opener.
