Union deal equitable, PAL maintains

The flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Friday maintained that the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines union on June 1, 2022, imposes the same retirement age for all employees.

The carrier said it had yet to receive a copy of the Supreme Court decision nullifying a portion requiring female cabin attendants to retire five years earlier than male flight stewards.

“The new CBA embodies PAL’s commitment to be an equal opportunity company where management and crew members work together in the spirit of productive collaboration,” the flag carrier said.

It added that “the CBA was the product of a joint effort by management and employees to promote harmony and teamwork for the benefit of the airline’s professional crew members and the flying public they serve.” —TYRONE JASPER C. PIAD
