MANILA, Philippines — The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) handling the assassination case of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo revealed on Thursday that it is already consolidating the “final pieces of evidence.”

SITG spokesperson Police Lt. Col. Gerard Pelare said that the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) is already nearing the end of its investigation, ensuring that the case is “airtight.”

“Yung ginagawa na lang ngayon ay yung final touches ng investigation. We are just consolidating final pieces of evidence that would ensure na airtight yung case natin,” Pelare said in a press conference.

(What we are doing now is the final touches of the investigation. We are consolidating the last evidence to ensure our case is airtight.)

He added that PRO-7 has coordinated with its counterparts from the Philippine Army in handling the evidence related to Degamo’s case.

Pelare also disclosed that forensic analyses showed that one of the firearms recovered from the suspects was used to kill Degamo. Owners of the vehicles and other firearms were also identified.

To arrest the remaining suspects, Pelare has appealed to the public or individuals with vital information to step forward and help them conclude the case.
