Mastermind, gunman in Indian national slay nabbed
The Quezon City Police District arrested on Friday the mastermind and gunman tagged in the shooting to death of an Indian national in Quezon City. Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit chief Don Don Llapitan identified the mastermind as Randy Almares Manalo, 32, and the gunman as Mark Darriel Janito Lagarde, 21. The victim, Beant Singh, 47, was shot dead while collecting payments on Feb. 14 along Kagawad Road in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City. After his arrest, suspect Lagarde admitted his involvement in the shooting and revealed the mastermind of the crime, leading to Manalo’s arrest. Confiscated from Lagarde was a .380-caliber gun while a hand grenade was recovered from suspect Manalo. Both suspects face charges of murder and illegal possession of explosives and firearms. —Abby Boiser
