HERMOSA, Bataan — Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection (CIDG) arrested on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 23, six men who were allegedly involved in illegal cockfighting, or “tupada,” here following a tip from local residents.
Police said the suspects were collared by the CIDG men at Sitio (sub-village) Pastolan in Barangay Tipo.
Confiscated from the group were four fighting cocks, gaffs and P4,000 cash.
The suspects will be charged with violating Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal Gambling).
Last year, former Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano warned local officials to ban the rampant illegal cockfighting in their areas.
