PNP holds one-day job fair for migrant workers

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) held a one-day job fair for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), it announced on Friday.
The job fair, dubbed “Serbisyo para sa OFW,” was conducted on Thursday at Camp Crame.
PNP Deputy Chief Police Lieutenant General Rhodel Sermonia also thanked OFWs for their service to the country.
“Ang buong PNP ay nagpapasalamat at nagbibigay pugay sa ating mga makabagong bayani at kanilang pamilya sa inyo pong sakripisyo at tulong na mapaunlad rin ang ekonomiya ng ating bansa.” Seremonia said in his speech.

Article continues after this advertisementThe event accommodated more than 600 OFWs and their families attending the Japan, Canada, and Australia job fair. Legal help desk services from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and a resumé pre-assessment booth and PNP Caravan were also available to attendees.
DMW Undersecretary Atty. Patricia Caunan said initiatives like this would decrease the chances for OFWs to be victimized by illegal recruiting.
