China bus accident kills 14

BEIJING –A bus veered off a highway and into a ditch in northeast China, killing 14 of the 25 people on board,  state media reported on Sunday.

The official Xinhua News Agency said in a brief report that 11 people were hospitalized after the accident Saturday afternoon in the coastal city of Dalian.

Xinhua said the cause of the crash was unknown and being investigated.

Road safety is a serious problem in China, with many accidents caused by poorly maintained roads and bad driving habits
