Pagasa: LPA dissipates, ‘amihan’ continues to bring rain over Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) that affected parts of the country for days disappeared but the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to bring scattered rains over the region, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
The LPA dissipated on Tuesday at 10 p.m., Patrick Del Mundo, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
“Tuluyan na nag dissipate itong LPA sa may silangan ng Luzon at ito ay dumikit dito sa may shear line kung saan pumapasok ang hanging amihan or yung malamig o tuyong hanging na siyang dahilan kung bakit natunaw itong LPA,” Del Mundo said.
(The LPA located east of Luzon dissipated and attached itself to the shear line, where the northeast monsoon enters, which caused the former to dissipate.)
Del Mundo revealed that the agency monitors no LPA inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) so far, adding that no tropical cyclone is expected to form by the end of the week and over the weekend.
