MANILA, Philippines — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is proposing a one-stop shop processing center for airport VIP passengers.

MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong shared the recommendation during Tuesday’s Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on Tuesday on alleged human smuggling at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).

“Ang recommendation po namin after this incident is for us to have a one-stop shop processing center po. Our first recommendation is for us to do it sa terminal muna,” Chiong said.

“Ideally po kasi sa ibang bansa, what they have is a general aviation terminal. Naka-separate din po ‘yung commercial flights ‘tsaka private jets,” he added.

Chiong said that the Philippines and Vietnam are the only countries in Asia without a general aviation terminal.

The blue ribbon committee’s hearing stemmed from Senator Grace Poe’s privilege speech.

Poe earlier bared that a supposed human smuggling incident took place at Naia on the night of February 13.

Individuals who were not included in a flight manifest could leave the country, said Poe.

Cloud Nine No. 1 Leasing Company Limited, a Hong Kong-registered firm, operates the aircraft. The assigned aircraft ground handler is Globan Aviation Service.

Globan is the company that attempted to transport Twinkle and Mohit Dargani, siblings involved in the Pharmally scandal, out of the country.
