LEGAZPI CITY — The local government of Pio Duran town in Albay province suspended classes on Monday, Feb. 20, while search-and-rescue operations continued for a missing man amid the inclement weather.
Pre-school, elementary, and secondary clases were suspended due to the threat of heavy rains brought by the low pressure area, an advisory of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office said.
The local officials conducted search-and-rescue operations to find Samson Abejuro, 72, who was riding a motorcycle and allegedly carried by the strong water current while crossing Sunday a spillway in Barangay La Medalla.
Initial reports said his motorcycle was recovered near the spillway on the same day.
Officials in the adjacent villages and coastal areas have been alerted. INQ
