MANILA, Philippines —  The circulating memorandum pertaining to a two-day government salary deduction to fund a Turkey earthquake relief fund is fake, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Sunday.

“This is not true,” said PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil, according to a PTV report.

According to Garafil, the office of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin has already been in touch with authorities to investigate the issue.

The said memorandum was titled “TWO DAYS SALARY DEDUCTION FOR THE MONTH MARCH 2023 FROM ALL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES FOR PRESIDENT RELIEF FUND FOR TURKEY AND SYRIA” and claimed all government personnel will face a two-day salary deduction to collect a relief fund for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

Bersamin allegedly signed the memo.
