Two quakes strike off Zambales
MANILA, Philippines — Two earthquakes struck off Zambales late Thursday afternoon, according to state seismologists.
Separate bulletins issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that a magnitude 4.6 earthquake first hit 43 kilometers southwest of San Felipe town at around 6:23 p.m.
It was followed by a 4.2 magnitude temblor that struck nearby at 6:33 p.m., with its epicenter 49 kilometers southwest of the municipality of Iba.
The San Felipe tremor registered the following intensities:
- Intensity III – Iba and San Felipe
- Intensity II – Cabangan, Botolan, Candelaria and Subic
- Intensity I – San Antonio and Castillejos
- Instrumental Intensity I – Subic and Olongapo City
Phivolcs said no damage and aftershocks are expected from both earthquakes.
