DBM OKs release of P3.41B for Tesda scholars

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has given the go-ahead to release P3.410 billion to help Filipino scholars go to Technical Education and Skills Development Authority schools
The money which was approved by DBM chief Amenah Pangandaman on Wednesday will be used to support 54,783 students this year. It’s all part of a special plan called the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE) Act.
The Department of Labor and Employment -Tesda has set aside the funds from the 2023 General Appropriations Act to cover tuition, fees, insurance, and other expenses for 54,783 students, according to DBM.
“The best investment for the youth of our country is education. Malaking tulong po ang UAQTE sa ating mga mag-aaral (The UAQTE will greatly help our students). This will ensure that no Filipino student is left behind,” Pangandaman said.
Tesda wants to help many people learn new skills in 2023. It plans to get 1.8 million students to join its classes and help them become skilled workers. It will also support the students to finish their courses and get certificates.
