Almost 29K OFWs, dependents complete various Tesda skills training in 2022

MANILA, Philippines – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) on Monday said it was able to provide trainings to a total of 28,982 repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents last year.
“Yung mga bumabalik na nawalan ng trabaho ay binibigyan natin ng training program para makapaghanda sa bagong skills na papasukin nila o babalik sila sa kanilang foreign employment at kung mag-decide sila na dito na magtrabaho,” Tesda Director General Danilo Cruz said in a media interview.
(Those who lost their jobs and returned home were given a training program to prepare for the new skills they need for when they return to their foreign employment or if they just decide to work here.)
According to the agency, over 84,000 OFWs and their dependents also registered last year in the Tesda Online Program (TOP), which provides courses in COVID-19 preventive measures in the workplace, caregiving, and housekeeping services.

The chief stated that the Reintegration for Skills Employment program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development has also been helping displaced OFWs.
He vowed to further enhance programs for producing highly-skilled, globally competitive workers in 2023.
