Abandoned car yields P180-M ‘shabu’

Some P180.6 million worth of suspected crystal meth or “shabu” was found inside an abandoned vehicle in Parañaque City before dawn on Thursday, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.

A barangay patrol officer first noticed the red MPV parked along Quirino Avenue corner M. Delos Santos Street, Barangay Tambo in Parañaque City on Wednesday afternoon. At around 2 a.m. on Thursday, the officer requested police assistance to inspect the abandoned vehicle.

However, upon further inspection, authorities found 27 kilograms of suspected shabu concealed inside vacuum-sealed plastic packages of tea.

Documents containing the driver’s license of a certain Ma. Teresa Fernandez and a vaccination card of a certain Patani Barauntong were also found inside the vehicle.

The illegal drugs were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for analysis.

Police are now investigating the whereabouts of the unidentified male suspect who was seen exiting the vehicle.
