MANILA, Philippines – An anti-narcotics team seized on Wednesday P1.7 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) from a couple in Capiz.
Police Regional Office (PRO) Region 6 reported the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banica, Roxas City, Capiz.
The police did not disclose the identity of the suspects but one of them is tagged as a “high-value” individual.
Police officers said the couple yielded 16 sachets of suspected shabu, each weighing roughly 250 grams with a street value of P1.7 million, along with a digital weighing scale, cellphone, and sling bag.
Prior investigation revealed they were dealing illegal drugs all over Roxas City, with a weekly sales of one kilogram.
One of them had a previous drug conviction and was released from prison in 2021 with a plea agreement, according to the police’s report.
PRO-6 Regional Director Brigadier General Leo Francisco lauded the successful operation of Capiz police officers.
“Our campaign against illegal drugs in Western Visayas continues. Hindi ko hahayaang masira ang kinabukasan ng ating kabataan dahil sa iligal na droga. Pagtulungan po natin na masugpo na ang supply and demand ng iligal na droga,” he said.
