5 alleged rebels slain, 1 hurt in Masbate clash

LEGAZPI CITY — Five suspected New People’s Army members were killed, while another was injured in a clash early Thursday, Feb. 9, with the government soldiers in Cawayan town in Masbate.

In an initial report, the 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army said
The 2nd Infantry Battalion had an encounter around 6 a.m. with unidentified rebels in Barangay Guiom.

Government forces also recovered six high-powered firearms during the clash. INQ
