DAVAO CITY–The human rights group Karapatan issued an urgent alert demanding the military to show Ariel Badiang, 64, a consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) who was reportedly taken by soldiers in Manolo Fortich town of Bukidnon on Tuesday, February 6.

“His family is seeking the public’s help on the whereabouts of Ariel Badiang and for them to be able to see and access him,” said Tina Palabay, Karapatan secretary general, in a statement after the family’s appeal seeking Badiang’s whereabouts spread on social media.

“If he is in the custody of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, we demand that they immediately surface Badiang, and that they respect his constitutional rights as well as rights under international humanitarian law.” The inquirer is still asking the 403rd Brigade of the 4th ID for comment.
