Siete Palabras to cite life and deeds of Calungsod
Seven priests of the Cebu Archdiocese will give their reflections on the last words of a dying Jesus Christ during the traditional Siete Palabras (Seven Last Words) on Good Friday.
The commentaries that start at 12 noon will be broadcast live from the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral over GMA 7 and radio stations.
This year’s reflections will give a glimpse of the life and deeds of Blessed Pedro Calungsod, the Visayan martyr who will be canonized on Oct. 21.
“We will explain how Blessed Pedro lived up to the words of Jesus, how he suffered,” said Msgr. Achilles Dakay. The speakers are Fr. Wendell Balbuena, Msgr. Dakay, Msgr. Antonio Medida, Fr. Glenn Guanzon, Fr. Pat Ornopia, Fr. JOseph de Aquino and Fr. Sherwin Ferrater.
Archbishop Emeritus of Cebu Ricardo Cardinal Vidal will introduce the theme while Archbishop Jose Palma will give the closing prayer and give his own Good Friday reflections in the liturgical celebration that follows. Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
