MANILA, Philippines — A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been formed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to investigate the shooting of an Office of the Ombudsman employee, who is currently in critical condition.

The QCPD said in a statement on Friday that district director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III ordered the formation of an SITG to probe the shooting of Dianne Paguirigan, a 37-year-old administrative aide at the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices.

Pagurigan was shot at around 8:20 a.m, while waiting for a ride at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Cordillera Street in Barangay Doña Josefa.

The victim was on her way to work at the Office of the Ombudsman along Agham Road in Diliman.

“[QCPD] through the initiative of its Director Police Brigadier General Nicolas D Torre III formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to probe the shooting of an Ombudsman employee yesterday at Quezon City,” QCPD said.

“[…] The SITG ‘Paguirigan’ is headed by QCPD Deputy District Director for Operations (DDDO), PCOL Melecio M Buslig Jr, as the SITG Commander and P/Lt. Col. Zyrus Michael C Serrano, the Chief, Quezon City-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (QCCIDG) as the Assistant SITG Commander and nine other members,” it added.

According to QCPD, all possible angles would be explored, aside from counterchecking testimonies from eyewitnesses and other pieces of evidence like closed circuit television (CCTV) footage near the area of incident.
