Eagles stun Los Demonyous in IBP basketball
THE Blue Eagles shocked defending champion Los Demonyous, 82-81, last Saturday for its 2nd win in five games in the ongoing elimination round of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-2012 8th Season First Conference basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
The Eagles had a sluggish start and trailed, 13-17, but rallied back in the 2nd canto with a 22-18 run to forge a 35-all deadlock at the turn.
A 20-14 rally in the third quarter gave the Eagles a, 55-49 advantage heading to the fourth canto where Los Demonyous managed to tie the count at 81-all with five seconds remaining in the hotly-contested match.
However, Marvin Miralles drew a foul and calmly sank of one of his two freebies to hand Los Demonyous its second loss in six games for a 4-2 card. Los Demonyous however, remained in second place in the team standings behind Pecandela and Bhutakalz which share the lead with identical 4-1 cards.
Marvin Miralles powered the Eagles with 25 points while Rov Velmonte and Al Lagahit added 12 points apiece. Richard Bauzon paced Los Demonyous with 20 markers while Art Flores and Lito Ortiz combined for 29 points.
In the other game, Idolz pulverized Dissenters, 91-40, for its 3rd win in five games, while the latter remains at the cellar with a 1-5 card.
Meanwhile, Pecandela Law Firm routed Pañeros, 60-30, for its 4th win in five outings while Pañeros dropped to 2-3 card.
Earlier, Bhutakalz routed Primos-Rama, 71-48, for its 4th win in five games (4-1).
