MANILA, Philippines — Healthcare workers at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) can expect their mandated pandemic benefits by the end of this week, according to the Department of Health (DOH) officer in charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.
“We are expediting this. Hopefully, before this week ends, we can already release the funds so NKTI (management) will be able to give the allowance to their [staff],” she told reporters on Tuesday.
Vergeire said the DOH legal office is working to finalize the memorandum of agreement between the DOH and NKTI, which she said is a prerequisite in the disbursement of funds.
In a department order issued on Jan. 27, the DOH said it was set to release fresh funds, amounting to more than P216 million to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, and Philippine Genome Center.
