BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — A couple died Tuesday after being buried under sacks of fertilizer when a wayward truck rammed a store and two cars in Aritao town in this province.
Major Jolly Villar, Nueva Vizcaya police spokesperson, said Frederick del Mundo, 54, and his wife, Gina, 55, were buying goods at the store when the driver of the trailer truck lost control of the vehicle after a mechanical malfunction.
An initial investigation showed that the truck, loaded with sacks of fertilizer and driven by Jojo Odones, overshot the road curve and crashed into the store before falling to its side.
The truck also hit a motorcycle and a Toyota Hilux.
Investigators said the Del Mundo couple was killed instantly.
Odones and a bystander were hurt in the incident.
Police said Odones would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in a double homicide, serious physical injuries, and damage to properties. INQ
