MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed the appointment of Alfredo Pascual as chief of the Department of Trade and Industry on Wednesday.

The CA committee on trade and industry, chaired by Iloilo 4th District Representative Fernejel Biron, deliberated on Pascual’s ad-interim appointment.

Following the discussions, the panel recommended Pascual’s appointment confirmation to the plenary.

“After thorough investigation and inquiry, Mr. Pascual has demonstrated that his integrity is intact,” Biron said during the plenary session.

“He is amiable, cultured, dependable, and highly principled. His competence to discharge the duties of the secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry is best measured through his academic prowess, substantial working experience, and achievements as he held high-ranking positions and performs significant role as manager, economist, administrator, teacher, adviser, and leader throughout his career,” he added.

The plenary, chaired by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, then green-lighted the ad-interim appointment of Pascual. EDV
