MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Authorities arrested on Tuesday a Malaysian-Chinese in Pasig City over some P10 million worth of ketamine sent via the Port of Clark.

Glenn Guillermo, public information officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon (PDEA-3), said the 24 plastic pouches of ketamine with a combined weight of two kilograms were concealed inside three units of an acupoint massage twister.

Ketamine is a powerful anesthetic that is also being used as a recreational drug to “get high.”

PDEA-3 identified the suspect as Thai Lian Shiong, 24, who was arrested in a condominium in Pasig City after accepting the package in a “controlled delivery operation” jointly conducted by the agency along with the Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark, the Clark International Airport Drug Inter-Agency Task Group, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the local police.

The PDEA-3 said the ketamine came from Malaysia and arrived at the Port of Clark on Jan. 28.

The arrested claimant or consignee would be charged of violating Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165. INQ
