MANILA, Philippines — “Cinderella” has managed to escape the attic and has come to claim her lost sandal.

After days of searching, the Baguio City government’s Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) finally found the owner of the missing size 38 sandal, who went to the office herself.

“The owner of the now-famous beige wedge sandal has surfaced! According to her, she was supposed to wear her newly bought pair for the first time today when she realized one was missing. She was oblivious to how famous her sandal had become.

“She then went out to try and trace back her steps on that fateful day in the hopes that somebody had picked it up and safely kept it for her,” the office said in a Facebook update on Monday evening.

The woman, looking for her shoe, was informed that she might be the “Cinderella” the now-viral post is looking for. This prompted her visit to the government office whose employee found the shoe last January 23.

“As she was asking around the shops at Maharlika Livelihood Complex for the missing sandal, somebody who was aware of our post approached her and told her that she might be the owner of the “Cinderella” sandal that went viral and subsequently advised her to proceed to our office.”

“One thing we can reveal for now is that she is a strong and bubbly woman with a beautiful personality, just like Cinderella,” the office said.

While netizens are looking forward to the “face reveal,” some were “skeptic” that the woman is the real “Cinderella.”

“No! She is only an impostor, not the real Cinderella. That woman is the stepmother, who is a witch. Don’t believe her. The real Cinderella is still in the attic,” a commenter quipped.

Wanting to stay faithful to the “Cinderella” story, a commenter said: “I am waiting for the three antagonists to try them first.”

Social media users are also curious about the employee who found the shoe, which some said could be the “prince charming.”

“Reveal the owner and the finder of the Cinderella sandal,” a user said.

“I can’t wait for the prince, too,” a user said.

“Mr. POSD finder. It’s time. You will put it on her feet and then, hope you two are single for a beautiful ending,” another said.
