CEBU CITY — The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) has suspended another driving school and an instructor for allegedly violating the accreditation rules.
LTO-7 Director Victor Caindec suspended the Cebu Integrated Driving School Bulacao Branch for three months for failing to install proper motor vehicle markings in their practical driving course.
The LTO-7 also ordered the school and its instructor to pay a fine of P10,000 each. Its instructor Marlon Orcullo was also meted a six-month suspension.
LTO Memorandum Circular 2021-2284 Section 10-D states that all motor vehicles used in the practical instruction shall bear markings “CAUTION – STUDENT DRIVER” in a white capital letter at least eight inches in height with a red background and readable from the back of the motor vehicle.
LTO-7’s Regional Accreditation Committee for Driving Schools received a recorded video showing the incident on Oct. 25, 2022.
The LTO-7 said the driving school admitted their lapse in their reply to the show-cause order issued.
Caindec said they were still investigating more schools in the region in response to the directive from LTO Chief Jay Tugade.
“These are just a few of the many cases that we are focusing on now. We will not stop because they may have already been abusing their accreditation,” he said.
This is the second private driving school that was suspended by LTO-7 in Cebu this year.
