DAGUPAN CITY—The body of a faculty member of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) was found floating in the Linoc River in Binmaley town, Pangasinan province on Thursday (Jan. 26), police said.
A report from the local police did not immediately identify the victim, but the PSU condoled with the family of Mark Lagleva, an assistant professor at the university, on a Facebook post.
An initial investigation showed that Lagleva’s body was discovered by three students in Barangay Linoc.
The students reported the incident to the village officials, who then alerted the local police.
Lagleva’s body bore stab wounds in different parts of the body.
The victim’s feet and head were also tied with a string, while a large stone was found inside his shirt.
Investigators said the suspect, a 23-year old graduating student of the PSU, is now in police custody.
The motive behind the killing was still being determined.
