Cops nab woman for estafa in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY — Police operatives arrested a woman in an entrapment operation for her alleged involvement in large-scale estafa on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Ma. Francesca Macasojot, who is from Catbalogan City, Samar, was accused of defrauding victims, including a lawyer and a retired government employee.

Based on the police investigation, Macasojot, 31, was able to convince her victims to put up a capital at her alleged supplies establishment, claiming she has a contract with the Department of Education (DepEd).

The entrapment operation happened in a restaurant in Palo, Leyte where five of her victims gave her P50,000.

Macasojot was able to convince her victims by promising them a 20 percent increase of their investments.

The suspect has swindled almost P5 million from her victims.

The woman is now detained at the detention cell of the Palo municipal police station.
