MANILA, Philippines — The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) is set to discuss on Feb. 1 the possible “decoupling” of restrictions from the current alert level system.
Department of Health (DOH) officer in charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said the interagency task force would also address additional measures that may be implemented at the local level once mobility curbs are untied from the alert level.
“[The meeting] will also include discussions on how [local governments] can carry out measures when restrictions become decoupled from our alert level system, so we can have the same level of understanding,” she said.
IATF, the body formed to lead the COVID-19 pandemic response, is chaired by the DOH.
Meanwhile, Vergeire also bared that Malacañang has yet to respond to the request of the DOH to extend the state of calamity status of the country after it expired on Dec. 31.
“[There is still] no categorical and no official response to this request for the extension of the state of calamity,” she said.
