DAVAO CITY — The Davao de Oro government suspended classes at all levels in the province due to bad weather on Wednesday.
In an announcement before midnight, the provincial government also warned the residents to be vigilant and secure themselves from the threat of floods and landslides.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration placed Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental under the yellow rainfall warning.
Davao de Oro is known to suffer from floods and landslides in its mountainous areas, particularly in Monkayo and Pantukan, where small and unregulated mining operations are rampant.
The two provinces suffered the highest death tolls during the onslaught of Typhoon Pablo in December 2012.
