MANILA, Philippines — Couples of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) community can have a commitment ceremony in Quezon City (QC) in the love month of February, Mayor Joy Belmonte said on Tuesday.
According to Belmonte, this is the second time that the city government will organize such a ceremony.
“Quezon City is a gender-fair city where LGBT community is treated with respect and equality. This love month, the Office of the Mayor and QC Gender and Development (GAD) Council will be sponsoring a commitment ceremony of LGBT Couples,” said Belmonte’s Twitter post.

The ceremony will take place in the month of February 2023, said Belmonte.
LGBTQ+ couples who wish to participate in the ceremony must send the following requirements to the QC GAD council or email it at GADCouncil@quezoncity.gov.ph:
- Barangay certificate of residence
- Accomplished registration form
- Picture of applicants
- QC ID
For the registration form, couples are instructed to get it at the action office or the mini city halls, which can be found in these areas:
- District 1: 176 E. Beltran Street, Barangay Katipunan
- District 2: 2/F Disaster Bldg., Barangay Hall, Barangay Commonwealth
- District 3: 25 Calderon Street, Barangay Marilag
- District 4: Sct. Reyes between Sct. Chuatoco, Barangay Paligsahan
- District 5: Novaliches District Center
- District 6: Sanville Multi-Purpose Hall, Barangay Culiat
“Love has no limits. Love is universal. Love wins, always,” said Belmonte.
Marriage or civil union for the LGBTQ+ community is still not legal in the Philippines, with the Department of Justice previously stating in November 2022 that the country was not ready for it.
