MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued a 19-year-old man after he was stranded at sea for hours, said the agency on Tuesday.
According to the incident report of PCG’s Surigao del Sur station, the teenager went overboard in the vicinity waters off Lingig, Surigao del Sur, on Monday.
“He was identified as a 19-year-old resident of Purok Nangka, Barangay Sta. Felomina, Cateel, Davao Oriental, who accidentally fell and went overboard his motor-banca due to large waves and strong swell,” said the PCG.
The Department of Transportation, which the PCG is under, said that the man was at sea for five to six hours until he was rescued by the PCG’s Deployable Response Group (DRG) and the 1504th PCG Auxiliary Squadron responded, rescuing the victim.
The DRG brought him to Carrascal, Surigao del Sur where he received medical attention.
“The victim is in good physical condition,” assured the PCG.
