MANILA, Philippines — Two people were killed while five others were hurt in an attack on a Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) community in Cotabato City early Wednesday, police said.
City police chief Col. Querubin Manalang said the residents were asleep when armed men fired at houses at Camp Datu Sumampao Tulawi, in Purok Pangilan, Barangay Tamontaka 2.
Police identified the fatalities as Pacundo Pangilan, a village watchman, and Razul Abdullah, a resident.
Wounded were Benzar Pangilan, 21; Rafsudin Nabaha, 29, and Jomar Nabaha, 23, village watchmen; and two minors. Manalang said the armed men, led by a certain “Sammy,” fled on a boat to neighboring Datu Odin Sinsuat town.
