Senator’s daughter, 6 others rescued from stalled boat off Samal

MANILA, Philippines — Seven people — among them a daughter of Sen. Ronald dela Rosa — were rescued on Monday by a police team from a chartered boat that stalled off Barangay Catagman in Samal City in Davao del Norte, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the from the Philippine National Police Maritime Group.

The boat was ferrying the Macky dela Rosa and her group on an island hopping in the Island Garden City of Samal.

The boat had an engine failure due to huge waves.

The Regional Maritime Unit Operations Section received a telephone call from the city’s Police Security and Protection Group personnel requesting the immediate rescue of a stranded chartered boat.

Upon receiving the report, the maritime unit deployed a high-speed tactical boat.

The stranded individuals were taken to safety by the police without any injuries.
