LEGAZPI CITY — Classes in all levels, in public and private schools, on Thursday, Jan. 19, will be suspended due to the possible threat of heavy rain brought by the shear line in Camarines Sur province.
In a memorandum on Wednesday, Jan. 18, Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte said the suspension is meant to ensure the safety of students.
He also declared a no swimming and island-hopping policy due the gale warning.
In Camarines Norte, the search, rescue and retrieval teams continued their operation to find Alex Toyado and Jomar Alcaide who were declared missing after a fishing boat capsized due to the huge and strong waves on Monday, Jan. 16, at around 11:15 a.m.
Gremil Alexis Naz, spokesperson of Office of Civil Defense Bicol, said the other 10 crew members were rescued after the incident.
On Wednesday, 114 areas were flooded in Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and Catanduanes.
Naz said rain-induced landslide incidents were also reported in the said provinces, in Masbate and Sorsogon.
