Overcast skies, rain over parts of PH on Thursday — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Several parts of the country on Thursday will be experiencing overcast skies and rain brought by a shear line and the northeast monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said.
In its Wednesday weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, and Quezon are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms because of the shear line.
A shear line is a narrow corridor along which there is an abrupt change in the horizontal component of the wind.
Cold winds blowing from Siberia, will also bring cloudy skies with rain to the Cagayan Valley, Apayao, and Aurora, according to Pagasa.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country are set to have fair weather conditions with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rain to isolated rain or thunderstorms.
Article continues after this advertisementPagasa also raised a gale warning on Batanes, Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Northern Quezon, Camarines Norte, northern coast of Camarines Sur, the northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes and Kalayaan Islands.
The following areas will be experiencing rough to very rough sea conditions with waves reaching 2.8 to 4.5 meters.
“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” Pagasa said.
