BACOLOD CITY — At least 53 cases of dengue were recorded in Western Visayas since 2023 began, the Department of Health said on Tuesday, January 17.
The top three areas in the region with the highest number of newly-reported dengue cases are Negros Occidental – 21, Aklan – 17, and Bacolod – 9.
Antique had 7 cases, while Capiz had 5.
Iloilo City, Guimaras, and Iloilo province have no reported cases of dengue.
The DOH said that day-biting Aedes aegypti transmits the dengue virus and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.
