LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Authorities arrested a murder suspect, who was listed as one of the most wanted persons in the country, after he was flagged down at a checkpoint along a national highway in Lidlidda town, Ilocos Sur province.
In a statement on Tuesday (Jan. 17), Brig. Gen. John Chua, police regional office 1 director, identified the suspect as Robert Manzano Lopez, 35, and a resident of Lidlidda.
Lopez was arrested after authorities received “reliable confidential information” that he was planning to travel from Mountain Province to Candon City in Ilocos Sur, according to Chua.
The suspect has been categorized as a “most wanted person” in the country, with the Department of Interior and Local Government offering at least P140,000 for his arrest, added Chua.
Earlier reports noted that Lopez was one of the two identified suspects in the killing of one Frederico Bisco during a shooting incident last September 2017 at San Sebastian village in San Vicente, Ilocos Sur.
The murder suspect was arrested based on a warrant of arrest for the crime of murder issued by a Regional Trial Court Judge in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, according to Chua. INQ
