Several weather systems will bring rain over parts of Luzon, and Visayas on Wednesday, says Pagasa.

MANILA, Philippines — Rain and cloudy skies will continue over several parts of the country, especially Luzon on Wednesday due to the presence of several weather systems, including two low-pressure areas (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

According to Pagasa, the first LPA was last spotted in the vicinity of Homonhon Island, Eastern Samar, while the other LPA was last spotted 330 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

“Inaasahan nga natin dahil sa epekto ng LPA at shearline dito sa Bicol Region, pati na rin sa bandang Quezon at Kalayaan Islands, magpapatuloy pa rin ang pagulan o scattered rain showers at thunderstorms,” said Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres.

(We expect that due to the LPA and the shear line, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will continue over Bicol Region, Quezon and Kalayaan Islands.)

“Dito naman sa nalalabing bahagi ng Silangang Luzon, inaasahan din na maulap ang kalangitan na may pagulan (the remaining parts of East Luzon will likewise have cloudy skies and rain),” she added.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have relatively fairer weather with rain chances.

On the other hand, cloudy skies with rain are expected over Eastern Visayas due to the LPA and the shear line, while fairer weather conditions are then forecast over the rest of Visayas and the entire Mindanao with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.

Gale warning is also still raised over the seaboards Batanes, Cagayan and Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Isabela, Aurora, Northern Quezon including the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Northern coast of Camarines Sur, Northern and eastern coast of Catanduanes, and Kalayaan Islands.

The state weather bureau said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Wednesday would be:

  • Metro Manila: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 16 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City:  24 to 31 degrees Celsius
