Deaths due to LPAs, shear line, northeast monsoon now at 27

MANILA, Philippines — The total number of deaths recorded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) jumped to 27 on Sunday, while injuries rose to 11 due to the effects of several weather systems which have affected the country since Jan. 2.

Based on the data released by the NDRRMC, the said casualties were recorded in Regions Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and BARMM.

Meanwhile, three individuals are also currently missing due to the effects of low-pressure areas (LPAs), the shear line, and the northeast monsoon.

The number of those affected by the LPAs also jumped to 614,159 individuals or 151,365 families, of which 112,596 individuals or 31,575 families were displaced.

Damage to infrastructure was pegged at P171,430,996, while the damage to agriculture cost around P252,372,690.

A total of 1,281 houses were recorded damaged, while impassable roads and bridges are at 39 and 13, respectively.

Currently, another LPA is affecting the country. It was last located 125 kilometers east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
