LPA to bring rain in Metro Manila, most parts of PH on Sunday — Pagasa

LPA

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and most parts of the country will be experiencing rain on Sunday because of a low pressure area (LPA) the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

The LPA was located 65 kilometers east southeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, the LPA has a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain and thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, the Eastern Visayas, the Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms brought LPA.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will experience fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain and thunderstorms.

Pagasa also raised a gale warning due to the effects of the northeast monsoon or “amihan” in the seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan (including the Babuyan Islands), and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte and Isabela. Waves in these areas are expected to reach heights of 2.8 to 4 meters.
