LUCENA CITY — A man was shot and killed on Thursday (Jan. 12) after he reminded two motorcycle riders to observe the curfew hours in Trece Martires City in Cavite province.
In a report, the Region 4A police said Mel Mijares approached motorcyclists Roland Marquez Magpuri and Ariel Jaropojo in Barangay Cabuco at 11:15 p.m. and reminded them of the curfew hours in the area.
The report did not provide other personal information about Mijares and the riders.
Trece Martires imposes curfew hours on residents ages 17 and below, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
But instead of heeding the plea, one suspect armed with a handgun, shot the victim, who suffered three gunshot wounds on his chest.
The suspects fled after the shooting, while the victim died while being taken to a local hospital.
Police said the suspects were arrested in a hot pursuit operation and recovered a caliber .9MM pistol, two magazines, 13 bullets, and a fan knife.
The suspects were detained and are facing criminal charges. INQ
