LEGAZPI CITY — Continuous heavy rains triggered landslides and forced local governments to suspend classes on Friday, Jan. 13, in the Bicol region.

In Catanduanes province, classes at all levels in public and private schools were suspended in Virac and San Miguel towns due to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Southern Luzon said an orange warning was raised in Sorsogon at 8 a.m., which meant flooding and landslides were threatening the high-risk areas.
