CEBU CITY — Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia will still continue to dance the Sinulog wherever the final venue will be on Sunday, January 15.

The governor earlier expressed her desire to hold the Sinulog at its usual venue inside the Cebu City Sports Center but Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama insisted that the grand parade and showdown will be at the South Road Properties.

“In the end, whether my concerns are addressed or not, my devotion to the Señor Santo Niño is more important,” she said in a press briefing on Thursday afternoon.

“In every year that I am governor, I always offer a dance to the Señor Santo Niño.”

Garcia recalled that even when she got suspended and stayed at her office at the capitol, she was able to sneak out for a while and went to dance in the Sinulog parade.

“Whether my concerns are addressed or not, the Holy Child is still above all. Therefore, I will still continue my yearly offering, not for myself but for all the Cebuanos,” Garcia explained.

Garcia is pushing for the traditional venue of the Sinulog Grand Parade instead of the South Road Properties citing concerns on traffic gridlock, security, and safety of the participating contingents.

Rama, however, said that the city government is doing their best in completing the venue, which remains “muddy” as of Thursday.
